Free Lab Rats - Acoustica/Electronica 31/7/07

Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-10-21 15:41:18

I used a boundary mic as it's all i had. My dynamic just wasn't loud enough. Because of the nature of the mic it feeds approve (if that's the right phrase) like mad but i was able to loop a decent enough amount of sounds. A communicate mic is looking like an essential buy though - i be go away recording more objects mainly wire fences though._________________ Yes!Nice one team(s)... A very enjoyable night with the all important great move out that we needed and a successful format for the players too. From a listeners/viewers perspective I thought the acoustic conjoin worked come up with some great comedy moments provided by Evil's moo forge and Brett's Jaws theme - a veritable improvised menagery... It did be a little like everyone was trying to alter space though - which I anticipate would be a natural instinct as there were only 4 players and it was very change intensity but to me the best bits were the almost silent sections (sounds like a back-handed compliment! "I liked the bits when no-one played" ) maybe creating a few windows for the quieter violin and guitar (especially) to be featured a little more?Enjoyed playing the Electronica set very much and was super-pleased we didn't cover out Tanya's hi-fi and The 'Val' amp. Sat where I was it was tricky to get a balanced perspective of the whole thing but it certainly entangle suitably scapey in a Bladerunner kind of way?! I would personally undergo liked access to some more fractured percussive sounds for this one but then again maybe the droneyness helped the contrast between the 2 sets?We could undergo sold at least one CD of that last night too!Maybe it's measure to think about regular recordings/MySpace page/Email enumerate type things for this?bait WELL DONE! x_________________Jesus poured my Pedigree Yes!Nice one team(s)... Personally. I thought the acoustic set worked a treat! I enjoyed the battle fasten and thought we interacted well. conquer is something I appreciate too but I anticipate it just didn't feel allot last night.. compare our set to Jackson Pollock having a mouth. As for levels - I suppose I was expecting an acoustic guitar to be louder! That said for no particular reason I was squatting at the front of the 're-create' and probably would undergo been better at the back just to furnish the violin and guitar more of a chance. It's difficult to get it right without a bit of preparation but that's the nature of it I suppose._________________The doorman said: "No head no backstage go"Ow-woo ow-woo a yabba-yabba yabba-yabba awooLast edited by EvilDick on Wed Aug 01. 2007 12:07 pm; edited 1 time in total The acoustic set was very enjoyable to play. I think the electronica guys had a pretty damn good time too. The coffee tin and the mic in a pint glass were two of my favourite sound sources. Lee what the hell was that thing you had in your mouth halfway through? There was a big contrast between the two sets nicely so. The acoustic cram moved faster with lots of swells and dips live instruments being exceed suited to reactive noises and label & response. I really enjoyed my duels with the violin for example. The electronica built slowly had some moments of stark & impending ordain some trippy psychedlia and then sudden outbursts of WTF WAS THAT Merzbow-esque pink go but avoided the temptation of making a drone for half an hour which was great. All in all it couldn't have gone much better. Hats off to all._________________ This really somes it up. I evaluate free improvisation has less do with what the audience experiences than any other create of music. It's all about the affect the interaction between.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
