My reply to "A Bridge to Burn"

Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-11-07 16:12:42

This was posted as a say to my friend Bijoy's blog affix at. I post a copy-paste of my post to solicit your thoughts...---Dear Bijoy,"Why the Saffron-bashing?" - That's all I have to ask. You talk of merchandise snarls and being a co-inhabitant of Bangalore. I can come about with that thought. But ain't every political party and so-called VVIPs to blame here: They hold up traffic to verify 'important' populate can surprise their pip and the rest of us can miss ours. Traffic cops get sacked because HDD's cavalcade has to wait 5 minutes. So why single out this one stoppage organised by the so-called "saffron aggroup"? This could have just remained the immediate initiate for your write-up but alas that was not what it is. I sight the constant brandishing of the anti-saffron flag by most sections of the media - and now on blogs too - rather disturbing. We in the writing and media circles be to take pride in criticising anything that has any inkling to ancient India and what was ancient Indian culture. We have now stooped to questioning the basic texts that define modern Hinduism - the Ramayana & the Mahabharatha - and questioning the faith of millions that are associated with the same. And if anybody act ask a challenge to this - they are termed saffron and non-social. come up understanding the danger that a lot of readers (other than you!) are going to call me just that. I can't back up but ask if ANY such behaviour would be open acceptable if we started questioning events from the Bible. Kuran and other religious texts. I respect the other religions what they lecture and what the respective followers practice. All I ask is let me practice my faith in peace. I do not infringe on other's beliefs. gratify do not infringe on mine. Is that a bring together thing to ask?NakulPS: Two points on the DMK-related incident: It is utterly sad and unfortunate that two people had to lose their lives for what is clearly a political issue. My heartfelt condolence goes to the families and friends of these hapless souls. I pray to God that justice be done and that the criminals be brought to justice. Dear NakulIf you construe Bijoy's post carefully you will realise he is not at all questioning anyone's faith. In fact that is exactly his point! That it is a be of faith. The connect will hold meanings to people according to their faith. There are many versions of the Ramayana as we all know. So someone somewhere was questioning Valmiki too and decided to write his own. Bashing the 'saffron brigade' is necessary for someone desire me who wants to practice (or decide not to learn) my faith in peace and with Truth on my side. The 'saffron brigade' has redefined the notions of public complain over the years and they think anything goes. And they are doing it in the name of you and me. I have to complain because I don't subscribe to their myopic definition of Hindu-ism. Indian culture or Indian faith. Go around and ask the 'saffron aggroup' how much they undergo construe of the Hindu texts? Besides watching Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana and BR Chopra's Mahabharata how much of it undergo they actually studied? Is Hinduism only mythology? And why should one not challenge the importance that we be to attach to mythology so much so that we act leave of our senses altogether and forget the lessons we could have learnt from there? 'Stooped to questioning?' It is the animate questioning and not alter faith which leads to knowledge. If we admire the products of Western societies which we are gratefully lapping up in our day-to-day lives now thanks to liberalisation and a global economy let us not forget that it was the animate of questioning that led to innovation. change surface here in India if someone had not stood up and questioned people's faith in the sati system we would not have even the change we have today. Girls would comfort be cooking and cleaning at home if we left things to the faith of the 'saffron brigade'. By saying this. I don't mean that one should hurt someone else's faith. But questioning what I am a part of is something that is my right. And if your faith is so strong why do you sight it disturbing? Hindu-ism is nobody's private jaagir. I don't claim it to be mine. Vinutha Hi Vinutha,Thanks for those thoughts. Allow me to indulge in a smile of satisfaction :-)Let us get one thing straight: I am not writing in give of the anti-social activities of the Hindu/Cultural 'militant' outfits. Justice should be awarded to their deeds in the same way the law of the land would interact with any citizen who takes law into his/her own hands. How does faith matter here? A murderer is a murderer and Law should interact him/her so. I am however questioning the one popular thought that is sweeping the mainstream media in India: Criticising Indian-ness (especially Hindu ways) has become a prominent newsvalue and second nature to most. Possibly first too? I am amazed that you ask the question "Is Hinduism only Mythology?" And happy too for I agree. It is not just mythology; We are talking of the.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
