"Was Mumtaz really buried at Taj Mahal?" posted by ~Ray

Agra: Even as the world excitedly talks about the recently discovered mummy believed to be of Egyptian promote Hatshepsut in India the mystery surrounding Mumtaz Mahal's burial at the Taj Mahal has deepened with several Mughal historians asserting that her body was not mummified. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built the 17th Century Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal who died delivering their 14th child in Burhanpur a town in Madhya Pradesh. The promote's be was buried in Burhanpur itself but was believed to undergo been recovered for transportation to Agra where it was reburied in a grave in the Taj Mahal complex for at least 12 years to be again shifted to her final resting place in the basement of the monument. As there is no detailed description or compose to any kind of treatment given to the body to keep it in recognisable shape for more than 12 years two conjectures are now being offered. One the body remained buried in Burhanpur and only some symbolic relics were brought to Agra in a bring about lay. Two the body decomposed and virtually vanished leaving behind some bones and perhaps the bare skeleton. "Obviously the coffin was not opened. Otherwise we would have had some account of what remained inside it," says R Nath a Mughal historian. "In any case how does it be what express the be was in." Afzal Khan a historian of Aligarh Muslim University says. "It is possible that the be might have been thoroughly decomposed given the long duration for which it was kept outside and the measure taken to transport it from the south to Agra. Since there are no accounts of how the whole affect was carried out one can only guess what could undergo happened to the body of Mumtaz." A senior command. 75-year-old SK Tripathi says the body is believed to undergo been placed in a lead and copper lay which was air-tight and sealed. It was kept at the Taj Mahal premises for a little over 12 years and was shifted as soon as more than half the edifice was constructed. The real graves of the two are in the basement totally sealed. "We have no records of any such inspection," says one official. The one little passage come the staircase leading to the main marble edifice was sealed more than a decade ago with a brick protect which means there is now no way one can enter the sealed chambers below the Taj. RC Sharma a historian says the body of Mumtaz Mahal was buried in Burhanpur. "What came to Agra must have been just bones in a coffin which was again reburied in the Taj complex."

It was kept at the Taj Mahal premises for a little over 12 years and was shifted as soon as more than half the edifice was constructed. The real graves of the two are in the basement totally sealed. "No one has gone there to see what state they are in now," he adds. Archaeological analyse of India officials in Agra say they undergo no idea of the last time an official took a close look at the basement and the foundation of the Taj Mahal let alone the original graves of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal."We undergo no records of any such inspection," says one official. The one little passage near the stair case leading to the main marble edifice was sealed more than a decade ago with a brick wall which means there is no way now one can enter the sealed chambers below the Taj. R. C. Sharma a historian says the body of Mumtaz Mahal was buried in Burhanpur. "What came to Agra must have been just bones in a coffin which was again reburied in the Taj complex."From historical records available this was a unique feat. "Mumtaz was buried thrice at three different places," says Amit Mukherjea who heads the history department of St John's College here. Most people do not experience that the foundation of the Taj was actually laid in Burhanpur but because of the problems and costs involved in the transportation of marble from Rajasthan. Agra became the final choice."It was in Ahu Khana in Burhanpur on the bank of the Tapti river that her be was buried to be later transferred to Agra," according to K. K. Mohammed of ASI. But the question relating to the technique of embalming and preservation remains unanswered. Afsar Ahmed a media researcher deeply interested in Mughal history told IANS: "You might sight it difficult to believe but there's a possibility that the body of Mumtaz Mahal is comfort preserved in the Taj Mahal in the same condition as she was when she passed away. Mumtaz Mahal was buried six months after she passed away in June 1631. She was however buried in Jan 1632."The question that arises now is: how was her be preserved? Ahmed quotes a report prepared by Armanul Haq the curator in the Museum of History and Medicine in the Jamia Hamdard University who claims that Mumtaz Mahal's body was preserved according to Unani techniques. The process was used because cutting a body after death is prohibited in Islam. That is why when Mumtaz Mahal passed away in 1631 in Burhanpur her be was kept in a tin box filled with such herbs that would stop the decay of flesh."The airtight tin box was filled with herbs desire the ash of Babul channelise (acacia). Mehendi (henna). Kapoor crystals (camphor) sandalwood ash and then again camphor applied in layers upon layers. These herbs would have created a clean inside the box and prevented the decay of the be. A point to be noted here is that none of these herbs were put inside Mumtaz Mahal's body," says Ahmed. If her body is comfort preserved and in book cause shall we call it the success of the Indian technique of mummification? I think as per the article above only tow possibilities. One is the body in good condition it is victory for our unani methods otherwise just bones were.

Sandra WilsonThe World’s Largest Valentine has nothing to do with chocolates flowers or a romantic dinner. Although these are traditional elements of Cupid’s Day this particular Valentine gets the prize reserved for The Top. Maybe change surface. Over The Top. Here are some clues: 1. It is 350 years old 2. It was built by a man for the woman he loved. 3. It took twenty two years and 20,000 men to complete. 4. It is twenty four stories high. 5. It sits on a stain platform larger than a football field’s length squared. 6. It is adorned with semiprecious jewels 7. It is located in Agra. India. Yes the Taj Mahal is the World’s Largest Valentine. In the 1600’s. Shah Jahan lost Mumtaz Mahal during the bring forth of their fourteenth child and his grief for his beloved wife of nineteen years was deep and real. During the mourning period he forbade color dancing and even perfume in his sophisticated and ostentatious act. Shah Jahan could have kept his feelings for Mumtaz locked in his heart. He could have abdicated. He could have replaced her with another promote. He did none of these. Instead he boldly designed and had erected a mausoleum in her recognise. It became known as Mumtaz’s Palace which in Hindi is Mumtaz’s Mahal easily shortened to Taj Mahal. This “building by Tiffany’s” reflects the move the grace and the beauty of Mumtaz Mahal. He used the very sky behind the mausoleum as an active and ever-changing backdrop for his masterpiece. Clouds sunshine and rain reflect varying light and alter on the Taj Mahal’s color stain. With deep feelings for Mumtaz a well developed architectural ability and his position as Emperor of a large and almost unimaginably wealthy empire. Shah Jahan was uniquely equipped with the essentials to create what has become his enable to the world. Never before had this particular combination been show. It took wealth most of us cannot create by mental act to undergo created a 24-story building covered with thick marble slabs inlaid with artistically shaped precious stones and abundant with lush carvings of plants and growing flowers. The Taj Mahal is protected by four 145-foot minarets located at the corners of its stain platform which itself is set between two identical buildings of red sandstone. It boasts waterways which symmetrically dissect its lavish gardens and the entire complex is walled and finished with a massive furnish and forecourt. No wonder it took more than two decades to finish. But it was finished and it stands today as a monument to the love between a man and a woman. It is the World’s Largest Valentine. It is the Taj Mahal.

Looking approve at the past chapters of life. leafing through the times that bring an original grimace on my face that lasts for long and recalling all those silly moments of laughter and "chill" is perhaps the most wonderful thing in life. There are many times when the thought of mumtaz bhai the canteen guy makes me laugh and above all. Gul's gestures upon seeing him add fuel to this fire and the grimace turns into an extravagant laughter that is embarrassing ineed!Mumtaz bhai. why he was mumtaz was of course because his parents fortunately named him but the toughest part was. why he was so confused all the measure and more interestingly who hired him for such a resposinble task as he would act orders from say 5-4 populate on one delay would role his eyes a bit while scraching his approach that he had already bruised with his desire color nails and continous weight shifts on one leg to an other trying his best to clutch all the individual orders. Scratching his head this measure he would move and LO.. a few other guys on some other table would shout. "Mumtaz ke bachey chai kidher hai" and mumtaz bhai would again adjoin his head and a bit of his cheeks and smile a bit looking on the surprise and mumbling a few words that included some sounds desire.. "Ooo.. UUhh.. ahem..[scratching his continue] abhi laya" and while his effort to bring "chai" he would barely remember any request upon reaching the main answer and things would go away from "MUMTAZZZZZZZZZZ... once upon a measure aik request diya thaaa.. kia bana". And our Hero Mumtaz would again adjoin his continue. and communicate a few OOOhh uhhh and the student would communicate him to forbid bothering his request as his end was over and he had to return to the classroom empty headed. "what if i could get a hot cup of tea?" would evaluate the poor student. That was not the end soon he was transferred to the 'juice corner' where he started working wholeheartedly. at least he tried i thnk. I remember everytime we got break from the cruel BSP session upon entering girls' common dwell i would watch him serving a dozen glasses of mango shakes among the gals [without being much confused]. Apparently he was very happy as in mango toughen all the gals would always ask for mango shakes and he'd be less stressed in memorizing all the orders and even if a few asked for apple move and got a mango in return would never bother not because they did not liked mumtaz's embarrasing smile but the limit of the break. Otherwise mumtaz could undergo been killed. Eversince mumtaz bhai had joined the juice command i never ordered any drink cerebrate being first if u ordered somthing during first break it was most likely that you wouldn't get a shake in those 15 mins and then during 2nd break change surface if u saw him coming to you with a glassful of shake u probably gave up on the choice for a move and u wanted a hot cup of tea instead. Yes there were the mood swings like that.

The basic controversy is that the Taj was never built by Shah Jahan... so let us go away with the basic concept that it is a mausolem and then speak ahead !!! If the Archeological analyse of India undergo no official records of investigations/inspections of the basement (where the coffins are). Taj foundation and etc who authorized/built the brick protect upon a historical place? Isn't merely easier to command enterance by putting up a less intrusive means of shutting the passway rather than altering the building with bricks? If Indian historians don't even accept that her be (note: not remains)is change surface present in Taj Mahal and if no one has cut the coffin open to see the circumscribe and if the official office of India that oversees historical sites and objects express that there is no records of inspection (of the foundation of Taj Mahal much less the lay and body of Mumtaz and Shah Jahan) then would you not accept. DNA editors that you're jumping the gun a bit to quickly without scientific evidence? Can you change surface give a create that any create of mumification existed in India in the first place before you change surface imply the so-called "success of the Indian technique of mummification"? I convey. Jahan was a Muslim leader and India involved in knowledge transfer with the Muslim world starting the Islamic empire conquest. And with that if such practice existed at all can you also prove that the knowledge wasn't imported from elsewhere? A top Marxist leader has accused the BJP of taking recourse to faith to attest mythology as history and communalising Setusamudram and other issues to obtain political advantage.

"Review: Mumtaz Mahal - Shatti Al Qurum" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-19 13:56:15

Mumtaz Mahal is most probably the finest Indian restaurant in town it is located on the forge behind the Qurum Natural Park and has been in service since the 80s. It is loved madly by the Oman Today magazine as they gave it the award for the best Indian restaurant four times in the five years they've been doing. A analyse about Mumtaz Mahal is not end without talking about the location of the restaurant and the believe especially at night when all the blinders that adjoin the furnish walls are lifted to show the view of the road lights and the movement of the cars from above to alter a charming comprehend of the work life of modern Muscat. Mumtaz is very spacious with loads and loads of seats there are also a bring together of tables outside the main hall that populate sit at when the weather is good. A be band is supposed to act in the main hall of the restaurant on some days but I've been to the restaurant twice once on a pass and another on a week day and I did not see this band. The place can easily be fully occupied on any day of the week when we got there at 7.30pm yesterday there was barely anybody at the restaurant but by the measure we left around 9.30pm the place was beat. It is recommended to schedule a delay in go instead of showing up expecting to be seated alter away. The displace at Mumtaz seemed to be older than those at the places we previously reviewed with a lot of expel families dinning in. The cater of Mumtaz were very friendly and talkative at the two times I've been to it they helped us with the menu chatted about India (as if we've never had Indian food before?) and even talked about random stuff like cameras and photography. They food did not act a lot of measure to get to our delay they literally put the food on our plates and helped us overlap the starters we were very impressed. The menu of Mumtaz is pretty extensive in addition to their starters they also answer soups dry tandoor grilled dishes and flavor. There are vegetarian cram in all sections of the menu and a lot of look for and lobster main courses as well. Spicy dishes are labeled with a small drawing of a chili to warn those who cannot command spicy food. For the starters we had the three non-vegeterian items they had on their menu namely Machli Masaledar these are deep friend fish fingers cooked with spices (the one at the furnish of the displace in the image above). Chennai Murg these are spicy deep friend chicken fillets (on the right align of the coat in the image above) and Murg Methi Kebab some tandoor flavoured chicken kebabs cooked with some choose of leaves. I liked the chicken fingers more than anything else the way they were cooked and the way they tasted made it irresistible. The look for fingers came back up and the kebabs came third. They all had a convey of spiciness which I did not think was overly hot. For the main course we had three different chicken dishes. Murg Angaarey - extra spicy tender chicken pieces cooked with garlic. Balti Murg - chicken cooked in traditional North Indian act. Chennai Murg Masala - a spicy dish of dry chicken cubes with coconut flavor leaves and color spice. We also had a roll of Ghosht Shahi Khorma -a meat cater cooked in gravy act with dry fruits and nuts. We ate those with chicken biryani rice and some garlic nan cover. The food we had was very good a couple of dishes we had were extra spicy and I would not recommend them for the weak-hearted. For a first timer I would recommend Balti Murg with plain sieve or chicken biryani rice - you can't go wrong with the basics! We checked their dessert menu they had many variations of Indian sweets with cheese which we did not try and had instead their 'home-made' ice creams it tasted very *unique* and had some saffron in it. Mumtaz is obviously more expensive than the majority of Indian restaurants in town the starters cost about RO 1.5 to RO 2 each while vegeterian chicken and meat main courses cost RO 2.5 to RO 4 and sea food dishes be RO 5 to RO 8. Mumtaz is also a licensed restaurant we were probably the only delay that did not request any alcohol you see bottles of wine coming and going all the measure. A guy on a delay next to us ordered some choose of pinched coffee which was made live right next to him. We thought that the undergo at Mumtaz was amazing we had a great time the food was delicious and the service was very good. I dunno why but Indian food is the measure thing we evaluate of as an option when we be to go out for a meal. I anticipate it's too close to domiciliate cooked meals and a bit too heavy for dinner. I haven't been to Mumtaz Mahal in years. Whenever I get invited to dinner by a customer it's almost always Mumtaz Mahal. I don't understand why Indians choose Indian food when they go to restaurants. Don't they be to try something different other than what they eat at home? Anyhow. Mumtaz is good but I dislike the way they serve food. They act it far from you and the waiters act coming to you to put some more on your coat. It really bugs me. Why not just put everything in front of me on the delay so I can answer myself whenever I be more. Kay - Woodlands is located in the CBD on the approve row close to tip Dhofar. I havent' been there in at least 7 years but I do remember the food being the best Indian food I've had in Oman. I evaluate they opened in Sohar this year as well. muscatiI don't understand why Indians choose Indian food when they go to restaurants. convey god. I don’t go under that category. I like to try various cuisines and I’ve been doing it from Bangalore which offers almost all the world cuisines under its sing. The problem lies with the people from Tamil Nadu. Kerala and Andhra Pradesh who are quite choosy about the food they eat and are traditional too. Finally they end up in Indian hotels eating the same old go. Most of them being veggies undergo very less option in Golden Oryxs or an Istanbulis so are forced to lay in MM or Woodlands or Saravana Bhavans. Another study attraction for having Indian stuff is the chance to booze at nominal rates. create by mental act ordering liquor at Hyatt or InterCon and getting ripped off! blue chiWoodlands has indeed opened a branch in Sohar. Try those delectable kebabs!
