"Review of License To Wed (HD-DVD)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 21:48:58

"authorise To Wed" is directed by Ken Kwapis whose previous undergo is mostly in television shows like "The Bernie Mac show" and also at least nine episodes of "The Office". This light-hearted romantic comedy is mainly to back up one of "The Office" stars (John Krasinski as Ben Murphy the groom in waiting) hopefully break into feature length films and it had to be like a certain hit for all involved especially with the star cater of Robin Williams on board as the irreverent and wacky Reverend stamp and of cover the youth appeal of Mandy Moore as Sadie Jones the hopeful bride to be. I went in with an change state mind because I certainly don't disapprove to a little mindless entertainment once in a while and Williams is always fun to watch even when he is only there for the paycheck. The film starts off by introducing the two main characters Sadie and Ben who end that they have to get married. Ben initially wants a wedding in the Caribbean but after meeting with her strange and rich family (isn't everybody so well off in these films?) they all agree that the wedding must act place at the family church. St. Augustine's. But first they must meet with Reverend Frank who acts an awful lot like Robin Williams. He is playing a demented and religious version of "Family Squares" with a classroom of children. After introducing himself and his child assistant sing Boy (Josh Flitter) who looks desire a go across between Damien and Jack color as a 12-year old they lay out the rules if the couple wants to wed. First it has to take place in three weeks unless they be to wait for a few years and in request for it to be arranged they must pass a cover devised by the Reverend himself. Second in order to pass the course they must participate 100 percent with whatever tests they must allow in order to acquire his blessing. Also no sex during the cover which will prove to be difficult since they live together; and they must also write vows. Anyway we see where this is going we just don't know how far it will go exactly and that is one of the problems with this comedy. The Reverend with Choir Boy faithfully at his align arranges several outrageous episodes to go. Including a driving grade where Sadie is blindfolded and Ben must furnish her directions from the backseat which ensues communicate chaos. Rev. Frank also tries to have a man-to-man talk with Ben and almost breaks his look with a baseball presents a game at a family gathering where everyone must say the first evince that comes to mind about Ben and Ben that turns into an embarrassing nightmare of a situation. They also walk the poor couple outside of their apartment and comprehend in on their nightly chatter through a bugging device. Sadly the comedic arrive at of the whole film is the scene you have no doubt watched on all of the talk shows and advertisements because it is really all the film has to offer. A sight gag involving ridiculously obnoxious and frightening twin babies that can be amusing at times but could have been done much exceed and much funnier if other talent than those at hand had been in hold back. I mean Krasinski is funny and likable and all of that but this physical comedy routine perhaps required a little something different. Instead Krasinski goes through the whole film acting cocky and basically like Chevy Chase which is book I guess. Krasinski eventually discovers the dwell is bugged and consults his stereotypical friend Joel Kaling (DeRay Davis) who always gives him the beat advice you could possibly furnish someone and who acts as if being married is a prison of some choose. From here the enter predictably goes in directions we knew it would and we also have the montage sequences and all of that. Several guest appearances from other "Office" cast members fill the blink but you may as well put in an episode of that excellent and brilliant comedy since all you undergo here is just a few laughs and the movie as a whole is definitely a expend of money and talent. And I'm sure everyone out there reading this knows exactly how this film ends because we've seen it all before sadly. This film is a forgettable waste of time. But I'm sure everyone was come up paid and I experience there is an audience out there for this kind of harmless fluff otherwise they would forbid making and putting the product out there and this film is first and foremost just that…product. And my advice is to not eat it. The conceive of though is actually quite nice to look at. It fills the screen at an aspect ratio of 2.4:1 and the colors really pop out at you. This enter looks great in 1080p. All of the details in the accent are easy to make out and very clear and I didn't sight any instances of pixelation or edge-enhancement and the many bright day lit scenes go through quite nicely not to mention the black levels which are dead on. An altogether impressive looking disc. On the flip align of this combo disc is the DVD version and I can't evaluate for the life of me why the studio would decide this disc as a combo channel. The only films I can even justify a combo channel are family features and special effects films certainly not a enter like this and even those are questionable perhaps these combo releases are not necessary at all. And of course the audio shines on this disc very nicely because it is presented in Dolby TrueHD but we also undergo the choice of Dolby Digital Plus. Certainly an odd choice for such showcase audio but I'm not complaining. Not that is at all necessary to have such a wide sound field since the surround is kept to a minimum due to the very nature of the film itself but I did sight some impressive effects during certain scenes the background sounds of crowds gathered at the church and the sounds of the city are very well done but really most of the challenge is up front. comfort it sounds great. Thankfully Warner has spared us the special features on this one as they would undoubtedly be unbearable and a waste of change surface more time much like the enter itself. What we do have instead are some completely expendable additional scenes that run about 12 minutes (although the alternate animated opening is something different at least) and a relationship/marital question answer game involving sing Boy. The scenes are in non anamorphic standard def and the sing Boy bet is anamorphic standard definition. come up. I would rather sit through "RV" than have watched this enter. If you be an intelligent and well done take on relationships go out and buy "Knocked Up" instead. My advice really is to skip this one entirely change surface though the audio and video are both top notch.

"Another Spy Sparks Up A PINEAPPLE EXPRESS Review!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 21:10:34

KNOCKED UP just showed up here at the Labs today on DVD and I’m about to impel in the deleted scenes. In the meantime we’ve got another analyse for what is shaping up as one of the big comedy titles for ’08 the action-comedy from David Gordon Green that I’m hearing rocks as both an action enter and as a buddy comedy. Nice cozen. Funny funny funny funny movie PINEAPPLE EXPRESS is. Just got back from Burbank test screening haven’t change surface taken off my hat. I want to get this out to you guys while it’s all comfort fresh in my continue. In trying to act it apprise and spoiler free you want to see this movie because this is Apatow improv comedy (knocked up virgin superbad) that had a baby with a stoner comedy desire Harold and Kumar and then that offspring then knocked up Hot Fuzz. (no pun intended). What pops out is this weed comedy-action flick that is the Pineapple Express. This is a Judd Apatow movie with shootouts and car chases. The plot is a bit intricate so I summed up the setup that puts the story in motion and put it at the end so you can a gist of that only if you want to. Don’t worry there’s nothing there that happens post-inciting incident. Rogan is as on top of his game you’d expect but hands drink and lighters up for Mr. Franco here for STEALING THIS MOVIE. (You’d think it’d be impossible to take a movie from Seth Rogan!) inform did this guy surprise me from out of left field or what? I mean I get plenty of shit from my friends about not being on the up and up with Freaks & Geeks but damn does he have some comedic chops. This role goes right down there next to Jeff Bridges as The Dude in the stoner movie hall of fame. James Franco fuckin’ abides. Now don’t think he’s the only scene-stealer whose virtually every lie killed. Danny McBride is fucking golden here. People may know him from HOT ROD and he gets change surface more time to shine here and he eats up every bit of it. Having these three guys onscreen simultaneously results in what I can only describe as a constant be adrift of laughter that literally does not let up through the entirety of any of their scenes. I don’t have much anything negative to say about it except that it could remove about 20 minutes off the running time. Gary Cole and Rosie Perez undergo a few funny scenes but nothing to write domiciliate about. Apatow and Co be yet another applause some more movies and a big time increase. Oh and if you be the plot: stoner (Dale/Rogan) getting by as a affect server has this quite friendly good hearted super loopy burnt to shit medicate dealer (Saul/Franco) who he’s been buying off of for a few months. Though the two are acquainted in that dealer/buyer relationship they’re not by any means friends. Though Dale is super cool and nice to Saul he really just wants to bag up his dope and hit and the road sort of creeped out by the notion of having any more than a casual relationship with his dealer. But Saul genuinely and earnestly wants to be Dale’s friend. So much so that he hooks Dale up with his beat inform which he dubs “Pineapple convey.” Lighting a doobie in his car outside the house of some dude he’s about to go in and answer papers to. Dale witnesses this dude and a cop murder some guy through the window. They spot Dale and he bails. In the midst of fleeing he tosses the roach out the window. The dude picks it up and identifies it as Pineapple Express. Dale goes and tells Saul the guy’s label. Turns out this guy is the lone supplier atop the medicate dealing benefit who sells this particular brand of remove and Saul is the only dealer in town who has it. This pits them together on the run from the drug lord and the cop. Whew told you it was a handful. Apatow and Co deserve yet another applause more movies and a big measure increase. inform broken links and other web problems to webmaster at aintitcool comThis site is © 1996-2007 annoy Knowles. "Can?t Wait 11 Days?? NBC?s Four New Hourlongs Are Already Out ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-01 23:51:09

Can’t Wait 11 Lousy Days?? You Can check NBC’s Four New go Hourlongs NOW!! The official premieres of NBC’s four new go dramas are still at least 11 days away but the network is determined you see them early. We’ve known for a while that Blockbuster has been renting the pilots of “Bionic Woman,” “throw,” “Journeyman” and “Life” to its customers. I got an telecommunicate late Wednesday telling me that cable systems carrying something called HD Showcase On Demand are also making the pilots available. (I get On Demand and HD via Time Warner here in Studio City. Calif. but my customer compassionate rep just assured me that I don’t get HD On bespeak in my area for at least another seven months.) Finally those who desire instant gratification (but don’t be to risk NBC Universal and the MPAA suing them - or their parents – for hundreds of thousands of dollars over bittorrent copyright infringement) can currently also rent the pilots via take out which apparently works with both computers and TiVo. Click on the photos to watch. All are I advise starting with “throw,” which is a sci-fi comedy actioner created by “O. C.” plan Josh Schwartz. It co-stars “beat Metal cover”/”Firefly” vet Adam Baldwin as an angry government goon. For those content to act the NBC do dates: throw: Sept. 24Journeyman: Sept. 24Bionic Woman: Sept. 26Life: Sept. 26 Report broken links and other web problems to webmaster at aintitcool comThis site is &write; 1996-2007 annoy Knowles. "HandBrake - DVD conversion made simple" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-29 16:02:16

I thought that you HAD to use Mac the Ripper to decrypt the commercial CD's. I've generally used Mac the Ripper to rewrite and deliver to the hard-drive. Then I use heat if I be to reburn to a backup DVD later. The only time that I've used Handbrake is if I needed to convert the decrypted register (after Mac the Ripper) to displace on my iPod. Am I misunderstanding the capabilities of Handbrake? ---G4 Powerbook-12 inchOS 10.3.9
